About the Campaign

The Hertfordshire villages of Knebworth, Woolmer Green, Welwyn, Datchworth, and Oaklands have lots of primary and junior schools with over 1200 children between them. Great! Well hang on… there isn’t a single secondary school in any of these villages so where do our kids go when they’ve finished at primary and junior school?

The nearest secondary schools are a 20 minutes car journey away in rush hour traffic. That’s well beyond walking distance or a safe cycling distance. What our villages are crying out for is a new secondary school that’s local to 1200 children. A site has been chosen that’s easily within walking distance for the majority of the children which will provide them with daily exercise. A local school would help to stop 1000’s of unnecessary car journeys, thus reducing traffic and pollution.

If the school is built it will be an amazing place for our children with ample playing fields, open green spaces, and facilities for all surrounding villages to enjoy.
